Schedules

I've had a few people recently ask me about what I do all day. They were not asking in a condescending way so I thought maybe there were other people who might be curious about what a housewife (homemaker) who stays home full time does all day. I'm not going to post the full schedule here because quite frankly, it can be boring sometimes. When my husband and I first got married, I was quite clueless about where to begin to take care of a home. My mom taught me how to do various housecleaning tasks, so lack of knowledge about the tasks was not the problem. I did, however, struggle to organize myself enough to remember when I had done the tasks last and how often each thing needed to be done. I finally sat down this past summer and decided what needed to be done everyday and what could be done weekly. Daily tasks include making the bed, picking clothes up off the floor and putting them in the hamper, making sure all dirty dishes end up in the dishwasher, and just mostly keeping clutter at bay. The list of weekly tasks is much more lengthy. I've broken it down by day and also by room. Here's my list:

Kitchen-
Monday:
- Wipe surfaces including sinks, countertops, outside of the ventilation hood, fridge and cupboard doors, top of fridge, appliance exteriors, and furniture
- Dust light fixtures
Tuesday:
- Wipe inside of oven, microwave, and toaster
Wednesday:
- Flush drains with boiling water
Thursday:
- Discard food and beverage past their prime
- Wipe outside of trash bins
Friday:
- Vacuum and mop floors

Dining Room-
Friday:
- Dust table and light fixtures
- Vacuum curtains and floor

Living Room/Family Room-
Tuesday:
- Fluff and rotate cushions
- Wash slipcovers
Friday:
- Dust entire room
- Vacuum curtains, couches, and upholstery

Entryway-
Thursday:
- Clean door windows
- Launder rug
Friday:
- Mop floor

Bedroom-
Monday:
- Wash sheets and pillowcases
Wednesday:
- Dust furniture and light fixtures
- Vacuum floors and chairs

Bathroom-
Monday:
- Launder bath mats
Wednesday:
- Clean toilet, tub, shower, and sink
- Wipe mirrors
- Dust light fixtures
Thursday:
- Change towels and wash cloths
- Empty trash
Friday:
- Mop floors

Misc-
Tuesday:
- Sort through papers
Wednesday:
- Go to store/run errands
Thursday:
- Do laundry

That is how I stay organized. This way, I never feel panicked if something doesn't get done one week, because I can do it later or the next week. I hope everyone finds a way to organize household tasks. It definitely creates a stress-free environment for me. :)

Hope you all have had a good week!
