Some Thrifty Finds and Retraining a Dog

Hello everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. I know I did. :) Please excuse the less frequent blogging. After a few months of deliberation, we decided that we need to start retraining our 8 month old Chorkie, Ike. He's picked up some really terrible habits because we have not been consistent with him like we should have been. So I'll be busy with that for the next couple of weeks and beyond.

Anyway, I thought I would share with you some of my Goodwill finds. Unlike some of you, my Goodwill is either already picked over by the time I get there or there really is nothing worth buying there. Today, I did pretty well! The only depressing spot of the day was when I spotted a Simply Shabby Chic duvet cover and sham in this pattern. For a twin size, it cost $34.99. I only go to the thrift store with my leftover grocery store money, so $34.99 wasn't in my budget, unfortunately! I was pretty torn about leaving it. I love Rachel Ashwell and her Simply Shabby Chic line. She has some books that are excellent and a definite indulgence for me. I love looking at the beautiful pictures! She also has a blog. Fabulous!

Anyway, I did find some other things at Goodwill that I am able to enjoy ...

This cute wall hanging only cost $1.99. I am going to put it in either my powder room, which is done solely in a Parisian motif, or the adjoining turquoise bedroom (our guest room.) I love the combo of red and turquoise together ... yummy!

I got this print mostly for the frame. I plan on painting it either white or black. I do love the print in the middle, though. It's of the Battery in Charleston, South Carolina, I believe. My family vacationed there one summer and we had the best time! I love Charleston ... it's one of my favorite places to be. Here's some more of the frame detail ...

I can't wait to paint it :)

And then finally, the best find of the day was this :

Look! It even has the screws to mount it to the wall! I was so excited to find this. If I had been with a friend I would have jumped up and down and squealed. I love Pottery Barn anything. I prefer Ballard Designs, but no one in Illinois knows what Ballard is, so I have to satisfy the craving with a subscription to the catalog. Still, Pottery Barn is usually really high quality and I love nickel finishes! I felt so blessed to have found this today, since I need a soap dish for one of the bathrooms in our house and wanted something a little more sophisticated than anything that I had already.

Hope you all have a great day!
